Karen 11th January 2018

I met Derek and his wife Pat in around 1996 on holiday in Altinkum, Turkey, they had already become friends with my parents Janice and Ken Hobson and even after my fathers death 10 years ago have remained friends. We all started to go on holiday in a big group on a regular basis and even had a "Marriage Ceremony" for Pat and Derek in Marmaris when they bought new Wedding rings, a day that involved many many laughs. Derek and I used to compete on the Karaoke on a regular basis and even did a few duets. Nearly 2 years ago when Derek was given only 12 weeks, he gave me all of his karaoke discs and books. I tried to do a tribute to him one night with friends by singing one of Derek's favourites Wonderful tonight, to say I found it difficult was an understatement. I would love to think I could do this for Derek now, but would find it even more difficult now. Derek was a fabulous man and will never be forgotten as a great family man and a fantastic friend. RIP Derek, you will be a huge miss. All my love Karen (Consett) xxx
