I can’t begin to tell you how much I will miss you my dear friend Derek, always there with the biggest smile and that cheeky little glint in his eye, there for advice for all or a shoulder to cry on, with a story to tell and a laugh and joke, what a beautiful sole, the kindest most warm hearted gentleman I’d ever met, you let me into your life and gave me such a special gift the friendship of you and your gorgeous family that I will value always. Sleep tight my dear friend, Love you loads Helen xxxx

Derek was a lovely man who I only knew for a short time ,( just over a year ) when I visited him at home on a weekly basis as part of the district nursing team from Denton Turret. Every Thursday he would tell me the most wonderful stories . He had a bubbly, hilarious, witty, way of words and I could have listened to him for hours . Derek never complained, he fought his illness with a very courageous attitude and was always very positive . His love for his family shone through when he talked about them to me , And I'm sure he will always be with them wherever they go . Unfortunately I won't be able to attend his funeral as I will be in Lanzarote but I will raise a glass of vino to him on 31 st January at 12 noon and I will be thinking of Pat, Kerry and the rest of the family . Sleep tight lovely gentleman , i will miss you Sue Xxxxx
